So here is a Dan Hamhuis story from the way back machine that sums up the person we have all had the pleasure of watching and working with over the past 15+ years (thread)... 1/7

Around Christmas of 2007 or 2008 there was a shortage of sponsor families for the community house where Dan and his wife Sarah had been volunteering. It was only a few days before Christmas and the charity still had many families who had not been sponsored. 2/7

The charity sent out an email asking for people to send gift cards that they would move along to needy families so they could help make it a happy Christmas. My wife was working at the community house at the time. 3/7

Dan came to practice the next day after reading the email and told me he had something for me to get to Erin ASAP. After practice he came out with a full, and i mean full, Target shopping bag full of gift cards. He had wanted to make sure every family was going to have a... 4/7

happy holiday so he went and got gift cards to cover the entire need at the charity. No one asked him too, he just did it. He and Sarah saw people in need and they stepped in and helped. 5/7

Hammer always does the right thing and we are lucky to have he and his family a part of our community and a part of our team. Dan - you taught us all a lot and we are better for having you here. Thank you for a great run! 6/7

Oh yeah - best part of the story. He scanned every card at the self check out counter. $50 cards. And did i mention the bag was FULL?
