I& #39;ve seen a lot of people expressing, surprise/concern/dismay that #Psychology is now the 2nd most popular subject #ALevel. As Vice-President of @BPSOfficial I admit I may not be represenative but I am PLEASED and PROUDhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😊" title="LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit lĂ€chelnden Augen" aria-label="Emoji: LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit lĂ€chelnden Augen">. I& #39;ll explain why in this thread (1/4)
So, it true that most people studying Psychology A-level wont become professional psychologists - although a growing number will and I expect at least as many will become psychologists as others will become professional Mathematicians ( #1 A-level) or Biologists ( #3 A-level). 2/4
For the rest, although the Psych A-level curriculum still needs improvement, the UK is one of the few countries where 16-18yr olds can study the science of how humans think, behave, learn, work together in groups (while learning critical thinking, research skills & statistics)3/4
These are pretty useful skills for any job that involves working with other people on a 1-1 basis or in teams, gathering & interpreting data, or appraising different theories.....which is most jobs! So that& #39;s why I& #39;m PLEASED & PROUD #Psychology is now the #2 A-level in England!https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😊" title="LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit lĂ€chelnden Augen" aria-label="Emoji: LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit lĂ€chelnden Augen">
