I can& #39;t believe this is what we& #39;ve come to. Trivializing victims. It& #39;s mind boggling. This one& #39;s for the teen bullies playing victim, for the ones actually believing they are victims and for the adults that groom them to believe that. Yes. You are being groomed. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🧵" title="Thread" aria-label="Emoji: Thread">
Dear minors,
Nobody on this planet is entitled to respect, decency, politeness or pampering. Nobody on this planet is entitled to getting everything they want/like just because they want/like it. Everybody on this planet IS entitled to the right to live and to be treated fairly
Respect? You have to earn. Decency? You have to find. Politeness? You have to deserve. Pampering? You have to love.
Adults that are strangers to you? They don& #39;t HAVE to treat you with respect when you trespass their boundaries. They don& #39;t HAVE to be polite to you when you
start every conversation with name calling. They don& #39;t OWE you any decency when you consciously step into clearly marked & #39;indecent& #39; spaces. And they definitely don& #39;t HAVE to pamper you when they don& #39;t even know you!
Calling yourselves victims bc you don& #39;t get treated like the moral compass of online fandoms is really unfair to real victims. People who have actually suffered at the hands of others. Children, women, POC & LGBT+ people that were and are actually hurt and opressed in this world.
Being made to feel uncomfortable does not make you a victim. Not even when you express the way you feel and the situation you& #39;ve PUT YOURSELF IN does not magically change. And you know why? Bc unlike real victims, YOU HAVE A CHOICE! One that you actively and consciously IGNORE.
It& #39;s the choice to STEP AWAY FROM WHAT MAKES YOU UNCOMFORTABLE. You are even encouraged and yelled at to do so. But do you? Of course not. And that& #39;s not because you are victims, but because you are spoiled and entitled.
Cool imagination exercise meant to demonstrate - you& #39;ve outgrown your shoes. They hurt your toes and make you uncomfortable. Do you put their picture up on your SM to mock and shame them? Do you sabotage the shoe company? Or do you just step away from them and buy a new pair?
And if you do try to sabotage the shoe company, would they pay any attention to you? Would they start making magic shoes that you never grow out of? Or would they ignore you? Or mock you?
Ok, maybe that example was a bit trivial. Let& #39;s try again. You accidentaly walk in on your parents having sex in their bedroom. Hella uncomfortable, right? Do you start raging that they& #39;re abusing you? Or do you just step away and feel like bleaching your eyes?
And if your parents were made aware of your presence, would they say "come here, baby, it& #39;s ok, don& #39;t be scared"? Or would they yell at you to not come into their bedroom without knocking first? (I& #39;d like to believe they& #39;d yell because otherwise... Yikes!)
In both the situations presented above - were you a victim? No. Were you uncomfortable. Hell yes!

DO YOU SEE THE FUCKING DIFFERENCE???
I& #39;m so tired of this bullshit. And you know why? Because I KNOW first hand what a victim does when given the choice to step away. They FUCKING TAKE IT!
Another cool story time! There once was a 16 year old girl who met a 22 year old boy online. They talked for about a year. She thought she loved him. She thought he loved her. They finally met just when she was about to turn 17. He took her out on a dream date.
He was a perfect gentleman. Later he invited her to a party. There were only adults attending. Her alarm bells started sounding in her head but he told her not to worry, that she& #39;d be safe with him. At that party, people were doing drugs and having sex out in the open.
She was so uncomfortable. But he took her aside and told her that if she wanted to be with him, she would have to like his friends and not turn away from them. So she stayed. She remembers having a colorful drink outside on the balcony with him and an older friend of his
and then she remembers waking up tied to a table, naked, bloody and aching everywhere. She remembers crying for help. She remembers two people. One man that walked passed her and slapped her face so hard it made her ears start ringing, telling her to shut up.
And another man that was crawling on the floor, high or drunk, she couldn& #39;t tell. He came to the table, he untied her, and he said "go home, pretty girl". Do you think she:
a) got up on that table, her head held high, and gave every piece of shit there a piece of her mind
or
b) ran out of there like she was chased by hell hounds?
What would you do, oh victimized teen?

I ran.

I ran and never looked back. Because that& #39;s what fucking real victims do, given the opportunity to step away and run. THEY FUCKING RUN!
Did I deserve what happened to me? I didn& #39;t. I know that now. Did I & #39;ask for it& #39;? I didn& #39;t. Was any of it my fault? No it wasn& #39;t. THAT& #39;S what made ME a victim.
Now tell me again how YOU are a victim on here because you barge into spaces you& #39;re not supposed to be in and when told to go away you... shrug your shoulders and say "Nah! Make me."
I& #39;m so tired of this shit....
It was brought to my attention that in letting out my hurt I have skipped an important aspect and unfairly ignored the victims that aren& #39;t able to run bc they dissociate from the situations as a coping mechanism. It& #39;s true and it was never my intention to diminish their trauma
However, this aspect only strenghtens my argument. Because the online teen patrol are not dissociating. On the contrary, they& #39;re being intentional and deliberate in their harassing and only using the victim card when they are called out on their behaviour.
And one more thing. Even if we in the spn fandom are dealing with these teens mostly from the d****el side, this is truly a fenomenon. From the Hanibal to the anime fandoms, they& #39;re everywhere.
So, just to be clear, I don& #39;t care what you ship. Or if you ship. Or who you stan. If you& #39;ve been policing fandom using the minor victim card you can fuck right off.
