Made my 1st food box delivery for Front Range Mutual Aid Network. Food rescue such a radical act! A volunteer told me: "Come before yr delivery & shop our food- then donate $ to us instead going to King Soopers. Eliminating the idea of haves & have-nots is part of our work, too"
I think I& #39;ve over-complicated the idea of mutual aid in my mind & grew up thinking "charity" and volunteerism were the only ways- but how does that break down the systems that serve some and not others? This short interaction today made me realize that mutual aid goes much deeper
I& #39;m also joe shmoe day one participant in a glorious system of mutual aid that exists in my community because of the hard work of others. I don& #39;t know shit! But I& #39;m stoked because I was there for all of 10 minutes and felt like I actually belonged there, which is half the battle
