This was almost my point from the beginning. If you read my essay on it ( https://newdiscourses.com/2020/08/2-plus-2-never-equals-5/)">https://newdiscourses.com/2020/08/2... you& #39;ll see. The deviation from this point is that applied postmodernists (or critical ones) determine validity by appealing to prevailing systems of power. It& #39;s ALMOST the Party. https://twitter.com/mjsteudeman/status/1290748066589540352">https://twitter.com/mjsteudem...
The Woke (Critical Social Justice, or applied postmodernist) approach to 2+2 is "4 is the value connected with hegemonic power that needs to be disrupted and dismantled; it& #39;s not wrong but is connected to problematics that need deconstructing."
In that sense, the Woke position on 2+2 wouldn& #39;t be to force people to confess it& #39;s 5 or even that it& #39;s not 4 but that its being 4 is problematic, which is actually ridiculous. This actually puts it well into the realm of the Party as outlined by Orwell in Nineteen Eighty-four.
It& #39;s very easy to dodge the connection to Orwell with this whole 2+2 thing because of the postmodernism at the heart of Critical Social Justice, but forcing people to say "2+2=4" upholds systemic oppression is really the same thing AND worse at the same time.
It& #39;s one thing to force people to claim unreality as reality. It& #39;s another thing to force people to deny reality completely. It& #39;s still another thing to say that the only reality is that which is and isn& #39;t "problematic" and THAT& #39;S what& #39;s up to the Party. That& #39;s Wokeness.
