1) Don’t write off platforms because you “don’t get it”.

You might not but that doesn’t mean there isn’t value. Figure out if there’s an audience on it that’s worth going after FOR YOUR BRAND not just because it’s popular...

If there is,hire/find people. TRUST THEM to create!

2) EVERY platform needs a strategy.

Know your why. Build content w/ a plan and purpose. Don’t just post to post.

BUT, test tons of content to figure out what works and stick with it! IT IS OKAY TO CHANGE STRATEGY.

3) Learn to make content.

Many teams are small and strapped for resources to add in more platforms. If you as the social manager can help in creating beyond just your creative staff, it helps! Be someone who can strategize AND create.

3.5) STOP FOCUSING ON PERFECT CONTENT

I love a good effects+top tier cameras BUT don’t think that’s the only good content.

TikTok forced me into saying create over perfection. iPhone shot content works. In app effects are fine. Stories can be told in under 15 secs.

4) Influencers are IMPORTANT.

Especially in sports, we often overlook them. Find ways to work with people who have big audiences! Make sure it fits fits with yours and also allow them to be apart of the creative idea process.

5) Don’t be a know it all!!

I loved being able to learn a lot about the platform and be a resource to many, but I also knew i could always learn more.

6) HAVE FUN

TikTok reminded all of us that it’s okay to let go. Do crazy things, be yourself, dance like no one’s watching but millions could be, and be HUMAN.
