Only addressing this because Austin and I were mentioned directly by name, and like Jordan said, āso I took it personalā
1) True idk the exact number for rebranding but I know KHS spent $23 mil and KMS spent $25+ mil on renovations. Keller also has a median income over twice that of the national average. Saying money would be that big of an issue is simply untrue and is an unproven scapegoat
2) The Washington mascot is offensive (no quotations) and thatās why it is being changed. Keller is a big deal not because itās some bandwagon, but because itās an actual issue and we are living in a climate where we can address it
3a) The mascot has always been a problem. Iāve constantly heard random racist things associating me with the mascot because āIndiansā when it doesnāt even correlate. Iāve always had an issue with it, and so have other people since the original petition is from 2017.
3b) Yes weāre graduated but saying move on is too live in willful ignorance. Instead of having the ability to make a positive impact on the present and future you are choosing not just to move on, but to essentially ignore broader ideas of discrimation and live in complacency
4) Clearly I am ready to talk about āthat stuffā and you guys arenāt since you decided to post on a pt instead of actually brining it up to have a conversation
5) Finally, if you have to talk about issues like this in āprivateā then clearly you know there is something wrong. If you firmly believed in your side then voice it but donāt cower behind familiarity in views and feigned support
