Aw man, it looks like a drama adaptation for NECRO ain& #39;t in the cards for the time being.

New regulations out today detail 20 taboos for Chinese dramas/movies. Notable ones for int& #39;l viewers are:
-No danmei, all relationships must be friendships

-All fantasy must be viewed through a scientific lens
-Transmigration plots must make scientific sense + be positive
-Romcoms can& #39;t be too sweet
-Decreased emphasis on gamers, especially underaged ones
-Only proper history may be filmed, all else must be wholly fictional (2/?)

First thoughts are RIP to a lot of Chinese IP, especially all of the period dramas/xianxias/romcoms/gaming dramas that have been massively popular in the past couple of years. I& #39;m really sad that this might limit the great works we get.

At the same time, there are great (3/?)

provisions in the list that call for
-Respect of minorities & religion
-Forbids promotion of violence/war/weaponry/demonizing the West
-Adaptations remaining true to the original
-Schoolyard dramas that avoid crime/violence

Ah, danmei = LGBT. And why no tomb raiding. :(
