This looks like a very trad response to a pandemic that has stretched trad responses to breaking point. More mothers than fathers have lost jobs; more women furloughed fear they are at risk of future redundancy because of childcare responsibilities.>
The beauty industry that employs so many young women is still on lockdown. Where is its place in these revival plans?
And what about young women who need flexible part time working to balance work and family? What kind of encouragement is there to employers to hire them? In short: Where is the gendered response to employment creation and the imagination to see what women need and want?
