LGBT+ REPRESENTATION IN MEDIA
Something light to kick off the week
"Love, Simon" was the first film by a major Hollywood studio (20th Century Fox) to focus on a gay teenage romance. It premiered in 2018.
#Pride
"Love, Simon" mainstreamed the gay experience in hopes of inspiring more LGBTQ representation in future films.
It& #39;s the coming of age story of Simon, a high school student who is outed.
But in true rom-com fashion it has ends on a high note. https://youtu.be/E0cbWdlQg_8 ">https://youtu.be/E0cbWdlQg...

Earning $66M "Love, Simon" demonstrated that films featuring gay protagonists can be successful box office hits, which was a transformative moment for the movie industry.
If studios know they can make a profit off of these open and representative films, then they are more likely to take on stories that are LGBTQ+ inclusive.
