I run a laundry business, so I often go to people& #39;s houses to pick and deliver clothes. About 2yrs ago, I got a call from a lady who I was referred to. She asked that I come to pick up some clothes.
It was a busy day, so I went to her apartment later in the evening by past 8 PM or something. She answered the door and asked me to come in. The clothes were plenty so I had to count every piece and write her a receipt.
As I was doing so, at intervals this lady would deliberately chip in "My husband is in the bedroom" in our conversation.
I could legit tell that she was uncomfortable about something.
After I was done, I left.
Later on, we eventually did some business together.

Like I sold some products of hers in my shop as an affiliate and so. We really became acquainted and I realized that she wasn& #39;t married. One day when we were having a discussion, I politely asked her why she lied about having a husband on the first day we met.
She sighed and said "Ebuka, I have been raped twice in my life and up until now I have developed PTSD over it. I still have flashbacks and nightmares about those horrifying experiences. I won& #39;t lie to you, I& #39;m scared of men. Like I now see every man as a potential rapist."
At that point, it dawned on me why she was filled with anxiety when we were alone in her living room by dusk on the day we met.
I know a lot of women also share similar suspicion. Trust me, your reason to be scared is valid.

It& #39;s impossible to understand how you feel. I hope you find a way to heal from the emotional trauma.

Dear men, if you decide to fold your arms and act like the fight against rape doesn& #39;t concern you, then you must be mistaken.

We (Me, You, your brothers, your sons) are seen as potential rapists.
This is a taint on our image as men. We can change this narrative by speaking up and joining the fight against rape to create a safe and serene environment for women in our society.
This is everyone& #39;s fight!
