All non-Black people, please do not tell Black people in this moment of crisis to have “empathy”.
We don’t need to hear that from you. It comes off as pedantic + appears as if you want to dictate how we express ourselves. https://twitter.com/emmacbeltran/status/1266748667861573633">https://twitter.com/emmacbelt...

You don’t get to dictate how any Black person in the diaspora reacts to fellow Black people being senselessly murdered, their bodies being torn asunder for your personal consumption.
In every single murder, we see ourselves, a family member a friend. People who look like us.
We exit our houses, shaking w/ fear that it could be us next. That fear eat away at you, destroys your mental health + wears you away until you are NOTHING.

Black people are human beings, too. We are allowed to be angry, upset, + to express our emotions in a way that doesn’t center how YOU would like them to be expressed.
You reminding Black people online/in-person/wherever, be they your friend, acquaintance, or a stranger that they should have love + empathy? Why do you assume we don’t?
Maybe you can step back + have a little love + empathy for us? Y’all are goofy + it shows.

Worry about your own emotions, learning how to be anti-racist + dismantling white supremacy before you focus too hard on how Black people are behaving.
You sound ridiculous + aren’t practicing any of the empathy or love you want us to practice.

This is all nuanced, but think about your actions before you come for Black people. So many of y’all want to be allies + claim you’re hurting, too.
Yet I see you out here telling Black people what to do, tap dancing for white supremacy.
Take your advice, please.
