Everybody is making threads of books that they& #39;ve read by black authors so let me go ahead and join in with some titles that ya& #39;ll may have or may not have heard of. My list includes children& #39;s, middle grade, YA, and adult. I have to read across the board as a librarian.
I& #39;ve read this one a few times. Difficult read but important.
Read this once and told myself I didn& #39;t know if I could do it for a second time.
One of the most important picture books to introduce to your children. My daughter will be getting a copy when she gets older.

To be honest I& #39;ll read anything with Jacqueline Woodson& #39;s name on it, but this definitely gives insight and perspective to her life.

Whew child. This one is a hard hitting picture book but one with so much to say about the affects of an absent parent especially for our black children.
I read the AYA graphic novel series a while ago when I first started working at the library. Black comic/graphic novel writers are important so support their works.
Want to understand more about the issues of colorism in the Black community? Read this picture book.
I know ya& #39;ll have heard of this one right?? If you like books that explore generational stories I would check this out.
A letter from a Black father to a Black son. It doesn& #39;t get any more powerful than that.
I just finished this one recently and if you& #39;re looking for a interracial romance written by a black author I would recommend checking out Shay Violet. This one had a wilderness vibe which I thoroughly enjoyed.
This was the first book I read by Beverly Jenkins. It& #39;s the 7th book in the series SMH lol but it was GOOD. I just checked out the first book so I can finally get the full picture.
Let me go ahead and warn you. There is absolutely nothing sunny about this book. Don& #39;t let the cover fool you. This is one hell of a powerful book.
If you& #39;re looking to try out indie black romance authors this is a good series to get into. This is the second book.
Currently making my way through The Nickel Boys, but this book took me on a wild journey. Easy read, no. Important read, yes.
Most of ya& #39;ll have read this one.
