Around 9% of the UK workforce changes jobs every year (I make that about 2.9 million) - see See https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/nationalaccounts/uksectoraccounts/compendium/economicreview/april2019/analysisofjobchangersandstayers">https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/n... @JonathanBoys
I& #39;m thinking about this in relation to the number of people who are going to be in churn over the next few months …https://adventuresincareerdevelopment.wordpress.com/2020/05/20/what-proportion-of-furloughed-workers-wont-have-a-job-to-go-back-to/">https://adventuresincareerdevelopment.wordpress.com/2020/05/2...
But, of course there is a big difference between being forced to move and making a choice to move.
This makes me think that comparisons between normal churn and Covid-churn might not be that useful. It is likely to be different people, moving for different reasons, in a very different labour market context.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this thread? Am I barking up the wrong tree? @lmicharlie @JonathanBoys @dncnbrn @lauracgardiner @LWpaulbivand
Oh and of course @chris_percy who with @JonathanBoys started me down this line of thinking
