I was arguing with this bigot about how going back to tourism isn& #39;t going to solve the problems we have now and he just couldn& #39;t wrap his head around it. He tried pointing out that ag isn& #39;t doing well, and I said it& #39;s bcuz the state panders to tourism in the first place.
Then he said we need a solution now (implying we reopen) and I pointed out that spenders aren& #39;t going to just come back all at once. He kept asking what my solution was and I kept saying shift towards ag and he just wasn& #39;t having it.
Finally, he asked what makes me think that my idea will work. So I told him that it& #39;ll help fix two problems: 1) food independence and 2) unemployment. He didn& #39;t understand how it would help unemployment, so I told him while everyone was getting laid off, I kept working.
Why is it so difficult for people (haole and local alike) to imagine an economically independent Hawaii? Don& #39;t they realize that we& #39;re so dependent on imports bcuz the way the system is currently set up? Do they not realize that we can& #39;t feed our families tourism?
