As someone who has worked in several toxic work environments (always told that it must be me who has the problem), seeing this conversation play out in this thread and all the comments is wonderful (and also slightly triggering ngl). https://twitter.com/outliersgeorg/status/1264347165016514560">https://twitter.com/outliersg...

These all go above and beyond the normal can-do attitude that I have. I am always willing to work hard on a project I believe in. But when I& #39;m working 60 hrs/wk and my boss is in my office screaming at me, that& #39;s toxic. "You only think you& #39;re working hard, but you& #39;re not really"
Or the time I was heaped with at least 5 different job titles - I had business cards for all of them - including Sales Coordinator for a crew of 10 remote sales people spread across the country, all for the princely sum of $6.50/hr. Adjusted for inflation, it was maybe $10/hr?
People think, why didn& #39;t you just leave? I was trying. I had a crap car and 2 kids. I finally quit in frustration and after 3 months of job hunting left the state. This was just after the 1992 recession, and jobs were scarce.
The screaming boss? He laid me off after a year and a half (again, in the middle of a recession). The worst bit was a few days later when I woke up from a dream in which I STILL WORKED THERE.
