Earlier this week my sister @Fourlastnames gave an interview with @Humans_of_NY which went viral. She shared the story of our father Domingo Santiago. His love for our family, his career as a cop, his battle with #MS and yes... his portrait of @OfficialSting
One of my Dad& #39;s last requests to our family was, "Give the painting to Sting". That was over 3 years ago. Since then we have grieved his loss & the pain of his battle with MS. And we always remembered that final assignment. This week we were able to grant his last wish.
Dad always had a way of putting his hidden signature into everything. He even hid it somewhere in the Sting portrait. Now I can& #39;t help but think, when he told us "Give the painting to Sting" his spirit knew that the ripple of that gift would create an enormous impact.
Now Dad& #39;s painting is en route to Sting in Europe & our family is in awe to witness the impact Dad& #39;s last wish created as his story has rippled out to inspire artists, police families, blended families, #Boriquas and #MSwarriors across the globe, and back home in the #716 @WGRZ
Sting& #39;s daughter @michaelimagirl & my sister Liz have now partnered to initiate the Domingo Santiago Memorial Fundraiser for MS with @mssociety. MS is longterm, devastating & incurable. It& #39;s the reason my father& #39;s canvas artistry was limited to this sole, incredible portrait.
