Every political candidate is a flawed person & none are saviors...but the willingness & enthusiasm with which so many are willing to gloss over every misstep, flaw, & issue with a Biden candidacy because...Trump...sure is reminiscent of those they’ve opposed the last 4 years.
Pretending every legitimate concern voters have about a Biden presidency is ridiculous or a far right conspiracy maybe isn’t the best way to win an election? We really doing the whole “pick least bad choice, just vote against Trump” thing? Cuz it worked so well in 2016?
1. Biden doesn’t make sense in interviews, losing his place, forgetting his points etc. It happens a lot. It’s obvious. Not talking about a stutter.
2. In addition to a rape allegation at least as credible as others that were taken seriously by media outlets & the political world, there are minutes & minutes of unedited tape of him being handsy, touching waists, & sniffing hair of women & children. It happened. It’s gross.
3. Biden has a history of lying. Blatantly. He embellishes & makes up stories. He had to drop out of a presidential race for plagiarizing a speech. He repeatedly lies about his role in the Civil Rights Movement (He had none), even from the pulpit of a black church in SC this yr.
4. His record isn’t good. Yes, he was Obama’s VP. Aside from that, what has he done that’s actually good? The Crime Bill? Be friendly with a segregationist? Oppose bussing? Ignore the threat of China? Oppose Medicare for all, in the midst of a global pandemic?
5. He’s prone to angry outbursts. Remember “why why why?” Or the multitude of times he’s told voters who ask heart felt questions to go vote for someone else? Or challenged them to push up contests, fights, or called them names? It isn’t presidential and it isn’t becoming.
6. No, he isn’t as “corrupt” as some on the far right have made him out to be. But...he is another politician (among many) who has used his position to enrich himself & his family. Look at foreign contacts his brother’s companies got while he was VP. Hunter wasn’t qualified.
7. He’s in the pocket of special interest groups. Specifically insurance & credit card companies. This isn’t conjecture. Look at his advisers & voting record. Thus isn’t uncommon in Washington, but it’s also terrible for the poor, disenfranchised, & working people of our country.
8. Biden doesn’t represent progress. He’s from days gone by & so are his policies. He’s inflexible, & his promise to return things to “how they were” is unsettling for those who were struggling before Trump took office. Biden thumbs his nose at younger voters, our future.
I wrote this thread on the fly, so please ignore the typos. There’s a lot more that could be said (an OpEd or blog post perhaps), but you get the point. Trump bad isn’t a platform. You can’t guilt voters into picking your candidate. The intellectual dishonesty needs to stop.
Address the concerns of voters, make concessions on progressive policies, BE HONEST about your candidate as well as the candidate you’re opposing, AND IF YOU WANT folks to belong to your party, nominate better candidates. The lesser of two evils thing is played out & wack.
