It shouldn’t come as a surprise but the “common sense” meme didn’t just spring up by accident overnight. It’s been pushed by many Tory MPs/media over the last 2 weeks. This is now part of a sustained - & relatively successful - media operation.

It’s a gamble tho - but one that allows it to fudge the science & tie together what’s seen as “overly precautionary” - science - with something foreign, something non British.
