And yes, there was 26-page paper in 1983. "Local Control of Bias and Tension in Beta-splines" by Barksy & Beatty.
Guilty! My personal SIGGRAPH paper lengths follow the trend. Alas, I can& #39;t say I have enough papers to really have contributed much to the general trend though, surely the other way around.
