This is actually not a joke.
I know it sounds funny,
But this is outrageous madness happening right now in Kano.
If they said they cannot do any autopsies because no facilities for it, I can understand.
But to say they are not doing it because of culture and religion is insane.

This is NOT the time for sentiments and unintelligent reasoning.
Everything else must take a backseat where human life is at threat. This is simple commonsense.
You canât be talking culture/religion if a practice can lead to millions dying.

Why it it hard to set apart maybe 50 dead bodies for an actual autopsy to see if thereâs a common underlying cause of death?
If we know what that cause of death is,
Then we can give sensible reliable advice to people so they donât fall prey and die too.

Kano said they will rely on the stories that relatives of the dead people tell them to know what the possible cause of death is. Yeah, thatâs verbal autopsy.
They discarded an actual autopsy because of culture and religion to embrace verbal report.
