Once again, Goldsmith has provided a model for what opposition can look like in a time of national unity: a respect for the collective effort that is only *led* by the govt, but is *our* collective effort, and a absolute focus on being constructive. https://twitter.com/MatthewHootonNZ/status/1254130046131830784?s=19">https://twitter.com/MatthewHo...
I think the arguments that we& #39;ve developed an allergy to criticism (of the govt) misses the nature of it. That reaction is against "point scoring", the feeling that it& #39;s for the professional gain of politicians/journalists, rather than to be constructive.. https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/121247586/why-the-heroworship-of-jacinda-ardern-is-unhealthy?cid=app-iPhone">https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/...
But also (less media, more Plan B types) the feeling of disrespect towards the effort that every single one of us were a part of, and which most of us are deeply invested in.
Like, maybe the problem isn& #39;t that "we" can& #39;t take criticism, but that the people who have something to say are insufficiently sensitive to the giant elephant in the room right now.
