I wonder whether medical experience will become a near-mandatory prerequisite for federal politicians in the same way that military service was until a decade ago.

Large scale wars used to be the most socially disruptive and traumatizing events. For a long time we elected people who would have been able to help us through those traumas if they repeated.

Doctor/nurse/epidemiologist is going to become a prized selling point for candidates.
