What grade were you in when you had your first Black teacher?
If we don& #39;t count pre-school, I had my first Black teacher in 1st grade. She was such a great teacher too!
If you had a Black teacher anywhere from middle school to college, what content area did they teach?
I love how we remember their names and how much of an impact they had on us! My first grade teacher was Mrs. Windom. She was one of the calmest teachers I& #39;ve ever had. She got you together when necessary, but you could tell she cared.

I taught at a rural school in Central VA for 2 years. It was roughly 20% Black. Many of the students I taught (Black and White) told me that I was the first Black teacher they’d EVER had.
