Opinion: having an equalities minister who does not seem to understand the equality act OR medical practice in the U.K. is terrifying.

And when she talks about ‘checks and balances’ for trans adults — the rights of whom are supposedly protected under the act she is meant to enforce — it means all our rights are negotiable. Remember that.

Curtailing trans children’s right to bodily autonomy & having a say on medical treatment will also result generally in a reduction of rights for all children, such as being able to access contraception and sexual assault services.
