A few people have asked me privately, so I figured I& #39;d just answer publicly.

No, we are not going to charge for attendance at this virtual con in order to raise money for donation.

Of course, I hope that everyone who is able will donate money to the orgs of their choice during this time when so many are struggling to pay rent and buy groceries.

But there are many members of our community who have lost jobs, housing, and even family members to covid-19.

This event is to bring us together. To have something to look forward to and enjoy, as a community. To build our bonds, hang out, & celebrate something we all like. It& #39;s not a time to divide up based on who can, can& #39;t, or wants to pay for the pleasure of hanging out with friends

Please remember that capitalism is the enemy of community building, and of radical change. Be wary of things that charge you for the pleasure of doing something you like when they don& #39;t have to. Be wary of things that seem like non-profits but aren& #39;t.

Fandom is free. It& #39;s egalitarian. Our fic is free. We do it because we love it, and we read it because we love it, not for any financial gain. This con is the same.

So please, donate when and if you can. And, no matter what, see you at the Con.
