1/12. As of yesterday, 509 Texans have died from the Coronavirus. Governor Abbott’s decision to reopen the state is foolish, dangerous, and logically flawed.

4. Governor Abbott has selected a banker and a lobbyist to lead his task force. Do you think their priorities will be profit or safety? We would appreciate a task force led by medical professionals rather than career businessmen. http://www.texastribune.org/2020/04/17/texas-reopening-greg-abbott-coronavirus">https://www.texastribune.org/2020/04/1...
5. The “strike force” is clearly driven by politics and profit. If the concern was really about the financial well-being of small businesses, they should provide assistance instead of forcing them to choose between risking their lives and keeping their doors open.
6. Local governments throughout the state are already enacting plans to preserve small businesses while also allowing people to remain safe at home. However, the Texas government has no such plan and would rather people potentially expose themselves and others to the virus.
Our state budget is $127,300,000,000. We can afford to help businesses.

8. Buda, along many other small towns in Texas, rely critically on their locally owned businesses. After the stay-at-home order, many businesses have lost a considerable amount of revenue. Even with the national stimulus support, it still isn’t sufficient.
9. Buda responded by launching a stimulus package for local businesses amounting to $380,000. Cities are doing the best they can to take care of their citizens, which is yet to be seen from the state itself. http://www.ci.buda.tx.us/665/Still-Budaful-Stimulus">https://www.ci.buda.tx.us/665/Still...
10. The governor’s plan involves mandatory masks in public spaces, however there are not enough masks to go around due to global supply shortages. Abbott’s plan is unfeasible and represents a dangerous misunderstanding of the situation. http://time.com/5785223/medical-masks-coronavirus-covid-19">https://time.com/5785223/m...
11. Abbott is using the shutdown for his personal political agenda. He declared that non-essential surgeries will resume; abortion is considered “non-essential” yet is still prohibited. This is a harmful decision that politicizes access to healthcare. http://texastribune.org/2020/04/17/texas-reopening-greg-abbott-coronavirus">https://texastribune.org/2020/04/1...
12. The governor’s plan to re-open the state is flawed and ill-conceived. We deserve better: use the hashtag #KeepTXSafe and make your concerns heard!
