everyone thinks of even as one of the best people they know. people tell him over and over that he is hilarious, gives the best hugs and advice, makes people feel safe, and so many other things. the problem is that even doesn’t believe a single word of it.+

isak calls out “welcome home, my love!” whenever even gets home every day. isak thinks of it as a way to remind even that he loves him. even thinks of it as routine, though. he thinks it’s something isak said once and hasn’t stopped. he doesn’t think isak means it.+
every time even hangs out with elias, mikael, mutta, adam, and yousef the boys greet him by screaming his name and going to hug him. he shrugs it off. he thinks it’s something they do for everyone, so he’s not too special in their minds.+
sana is the first to notice that there is something wrong with even. their whole friend group his hanging out, but even looks a bit distant. she gets him alone to ask about it: “even, did something happen? what’s up?” even shrugs her off, though, and goes to talk to isak.+
one night, isak is going through one of even’s notebooks to find a certain drawing. he stumbles across a page of words and phrases about how even feels alone and not needed. isak walks over to their bed where even is sitting and sits between his thighs.+
isak traces even’s lips with his fingers before asking, “are you doing okay, babe?”. even questions isak. isak tells him how he found a certain page in his notebook. even mutters out an explanation under his breath. isak can only make out “i just don’t feel needed”.+
isak kisses every part of even’s face and says “i love you” and “i need you” every time he pulls away. they spend the rest of the night hugging and wake up the next morning in each other’s arms.
