I unfriended zero people over Trump. Growing up in Missouri, that was just part of the deal: There are Republicans everywhere. I was one, once.

But ...

I& #39;ve had to #unfriend 9 folks so far over #COVID - and counting. People are dying. It isn& #39;t "a difference of opinion" anymore.

A small part of my brain says, "I hope they catch it!" or "Until one of YOUR loved ones dies!"

While I never post those thoughts, I don& #39;t want to HAVE those thoughts. I don& #39;t want to HAVE that reaction AT ALL!

The only way to protect my own sanity is to shed the toxic people.

P.S. It is odd to me that a common bad take seems to be, "I didn& #39;t care until I was personally affected."

The assumptions that racism or the current sham economy or endless war haven& #39;t affected me are grand leaps of "logic" one can only find on Twitter ...

I stay connected to many Trump supporters because they are family or old friends. I am vocal about my politics and have been for decades. Many of THEM disconnected from ME, so I felt no need to prune the list, myself.

This time, I am actively culling the irredeemably lost.
