we’ve seen that POC have been disproportionately impacted by coronavirus, so it’s not a surprise that majority-POC communities are now Maryland’s hotspots. this is the legacy of discrimination in housing, in education, in jobs, and in health care.

My parents and my brother live in zip code 20904, which has the second largest number of cases in Maryland. I was already worried about my mom and my brother, who both have health conditions that make them susceptible to Covid-19.

every time I open Bethesda Beat I see these ads for “community schools” [as in, keep schools segregated] school board candidates, and I’m reminded that we did not get to this place by accident
