Finished Nokdu Flower. This thread will be dedicated to Baek Yi-Hyun.
Baek Yi-hyun started to be a strong character. He idolised his teacher, loves a girl, care for his step-brother and is going to take civil exam. He also wants Joseon to become civilized. He has a clear goals.
And because of one particular event, all of it changes. Because of war and betrayal, far from innocent Yi-hyun we saw on first episodes, the drama slowly uncovers what his really character. For me, it became clear after he came back after saving Yoo-wool and bought a gun.
From being listed official to being a loyal soldier, an ogre, a jipgang, Oni to being a district magistrate, I felt that Yi-hyun want to change. To be back on just Baek Yi-Hyun. He tried everything and that makes me root for him.
I want to shout and tell Yi-hyun to stop and wake-up. He had a chance to change and wants to change but fate is not on his side. His character development is downward with slight upward in the middle. He is afraid and betrayed and it blinded him.
He came back to Gobu hoping to go back to his old self again. He already realized his mistakes. He is a traitor. His virtue is right but his ways are wrong. He expect everyone to hate him but it is not. They welcome him with a feast. He should be happy right? But why he is not?
He expect to go home on a family he used to know, but everything changed. Gobu changed. Myung-sim changed. He changed. His greedy father is the only one who doesn& #39;t change. He wants to go back to his old self until the end but it is now impossible.The only way to kill the ogre..
Baek Yi-hyun is a piece of art. Actually, half of the drama is dragging, I only root for him. Until his last breathe I root for him. It is only possible because of Siyoonie. He made that character possible.
I cannot simply hate him without looking on all the factors why he became like that. I genuinely hate Lord Hwang and his father. Yi-hyun treated his teacher like a deity and he looked up to his father like the nicest person on Earth. And with YSY acting, you can feel everything.
Indeed, this is the best character of YSY. He executed and understand it well. I don& #39;t think I will feel the same if other actors played it. Not being a biased,a lot of actors these days are half-baked and the ratings always soars. Can you give this guy a credit? He deserves all
