Rufus Ingalls was the chief quartermaster of the Army of the Potomac - later of the whole US Army - and knew a thing or two. Like the importance of dogs. This is his dalmatian
And of course, Sallie, the mascot for the 11th Pennsylvania, who loved naps and her soldiers

Ok, not to end on a super sad note, here& #39;s Harvey, of the 104th Ohio. Not an AoP dog, but a good Buckeye through and through. He was wounded in the Atlanta Campaign but made it thru to head back home to Wellsville, OH to have many good borks after the war
