Dear @bonang_m, my mom would like thank you for assisting not only us but many whom you& #39;ve assisted with grocery vouchers during this pandemic.

Infact this inspired me to write a little bit something.
Here is a THREAD.

For the longest time I used to convince myself that I am capable of taking care of myself and for my family. Even though I never had a 9-5 job, but my hustle as an upcoming artist sometimes do come through for me and that& #39;s how I survive.

Coming from a family of four siblings and being raised by a single parent whom I& #39;ve never knew her employer was never easy and as a result, each one of us had to learn to be independent from an early age.

How did we survive then : well just like my mom, i am a hustler. My mom is that parent who doesn& #39;t work but know how to make things happen, i don& #39;t remember anything that she never sold during our childhoods, (Magwinya, morogo, sewing clothes... Etc)

Now that she& #39;s getting old, she no longer have the same strength to provide for us as she used and that& #39;s where i had to step in. And offload where i can. I& #39;ve been a performing artist since grade 9 and 70% of the time I wasn& #39;t getting paid but told "IT& #39;S FOR EXPOSURE".

Even though I still face challenges as an upcoming artist, now I know better. I make sure that atleast 55% of my performances is being paid for because I know the background at home.

I& #39;ve been on the Twitter streets for a very long time and I& #39;ve seen the cruelties and the humiditys of Twitter. Many have got job, bursaries, families, relationships or good fortune because of Twitter.

I& #39;ve always been in need of any kind of help but most of the time, my pride wouldn& #39;t allow me to reach out for help like those thousands who did. Only because as an artist I used to look at myself as a brand and I& #39;d mostly suffer from & #39;Abantu ba& #39;zothini syndrome & #39;.

God knows how many times I& #39;ve attempted to further my studies in media sector and failed repeatedly. Same applies to my career as an artist but luckily for my sister she got NSFAS and is doing her final year. I only have NHC in Journalism.

I can& #39;t explain how every year, I& #39;d get all excited about going back to school, I& #39;d have a lil plan on how to raise funds, go register and manage to pay registration fee, what happen when is time to pay my fees. I don& #39;t know. It& #39;s a story for another day.

I& #39;m also affected by this pandemic as most of my gigs we canceled due to #Lockdown (see pinned tweet) I& #39;ve been living ka la Jeso and when Bonang posted about helping 25 families, I don& #39;t know what pushed me to comment.

Luckily for me I got a reply and became one of few who benefited from Bonang& #39;s Vouchers. Only God knows how I cooked a last tin of fish two days ago that lasted us two days. Not once have I complain even after Mr Preezy announced the extension.

I don& #39;t know what R1000 grocery voucher could do in your life, but to mine, it brought so much joy, happiness, hope and inspired me to tell my story. I can never thank Bonang enough.

Moral of this story is that: Never let your PRIDE/EGO deny you the opportunity of receiving blessings because God will send them however way he wants. Pride doesn& #39;t fead, nor does it pay the bills. God bless you @bonang_m. I thank you.
