I&
#39;d rather hear any organic accent that has body, character and tells a story about where the person has come from, than an engineered "received" pronunciation that is forced upon people as a way of elevating some perverted sense of propriety and supposedly superior education.
Some of the tweets on social media about Loki&
#39;s weegie accent and how that put people off from last night&
#39;s Question Time (apparently) are straight from a cesspool.
I&
#39;ll never hide my Portuguese accent, nor consciously change it. It&
#39;s who I am - I learned English a second language, my accent tells the story of someone who came from elsewhere. And now, if the occasional Scottish inflection appears, well, that too is part of my story.
