The last few weeks in our industry have been different to say the least. Understandably many people are worried about impacts to their business and risk to family and friends https://twitter.com/homegrownfuture/status/1247977859307757569">https://twitter.com/homegrown...
Lots of conversations about risk management, business contingencies, market prices, system changes/protection, staff management alongside how to manage fears and worries so businesses still move forward safely during huge uncertainty for many
However, all these negatives there are also positives. There is a huge discussion about food taking place. Families eating in rather than out wanting to know how to cook/eat and where food comes from.
Likewise huge numbers of people wanting/needing work to survive and put food on their table as they have lost jobs or businesses. How many conversations have we all had about having an industry cohesive message or being able to get workers? They are now there!
We have a huge chance to bring communities back together and create a discussion about food, community and local to hopefully have a better industry after this, because we do need a better joined up food chain with more honesty both ways
. @HomeGrownFuture have highlighted that social intelligence knowledge/skills is directly transferable to agriculture as the press coverage they have managed to get in a short space of time starting from zero is very impressive.
We now need to piggyback on that PR with the same hashtags across all ag sectors as that will massively increase noise and reach outside of farming circles which we need to do as that’s where our customers are, and bring a much larger conversation.
We have a chance to create a difference - let’s do it.

Finally -
it’s ok to be worried
It’s ok to be scared
