You keep incorrectly asserting Ireland has done fuck-all testing by completing 42,484 tests.

Overall % of the population tested:

Germany: 1.1%
Ireland: 0.86%
Czech 0.85%
USA: 0.64%
Finland: 0.63%
Spain: 0.61%
Portugal: 0.58%
Sweden 0.53%
Holland 0.43%
France 0.33%
UK 0.32% https://twitter.com/mir_ocall/status/1247594310683578377">https://twitter.com/mir_ocall...
There are 16 countries (with populations over 1m) ahead of us for % of population tested. United Arab Emirates are over 2%. Norway 1.83%. The rest are mostly found in the 0.8 - 1.2% range where Ireland currently are.

Could we do better? Yes
Are we doing shit? No
In recent days, half a dozen European countries - inc. Ireland and UK - have turned to Germany for help clearing testing backlogs. German labs are helping both the HSE and NHS in processing tests.

Helps that majority of European-produced covid19 reagents are made in Germany.
Many countries are reporting quick turnaround times in cases of very sickest people and slow turnaround times for younger, less-sick people.

7-10 day waits for results in milder cases are being seen in Ireland, UK, US,.

This is prudent. Sicker people need quicker help.
Prudent =/= Perfect.

In a perfect world, we& #39;d be like Germany with 75% of the European production of reagents coming out of our country. In a perfect world, we& #39;d be like South Korea who have one of the largest biotech industries in the world, allowing them to ramp up production.
But even then, we& #39;d still have problems.

Here& #39;s an excellent April 6th article on how South Korea& #39;s exhausted workforce are unable to cope with the insane demand for reagents. People doing jobs they& #39;ve never done before just to try help. https://www.ft.com/content/de3114a2-8b97-4d95-a55c-0a9d72dfa1ea">https://www.ft.com/content/d...
But if you read your TL, the only interpretation anyone can make is Ireland are eating a shit sandwich of incompetence after doing a negligible amounts of testing.

You are gaslighting people with tremendous ignorance and by proxy, pissing all over our scientific community.
I know Irish Twitter everyone picks a team. Team SF, Team FG, Team FF, Team Labour.

I& #39;m Team Ireland. I don& #39;t care who is in charge, now or in the future. I care that we don& #39;t end up with bodybags lining school gyms because our mortuary& #39;s can& #39;t handle the amount of death.
40 days into coronavirus in Ireland, I would describe our testing amount to-date as "very good" and the performance of our medical scientists as "excellent".

I would describe the political point-scoring others are engaged in as "truly pathetic".
