The great lesson I learned from family members who lived through WW2 is that you cannot take your peace and security for granted. Seemingly distant events in the news can suddenly come crashing through your front door and into your lives. This is the experience we& #39;re now having.

That& #39;s one reason why I got so furious about Brexit. The assumption that everything was safe and secure and would forever more be that way and that we could break things up and it would all be OK. It& #39;s so short sighted and stupid.
