I want to talk about inspiration. Sometimes experiences inspire us. Sometimes it& #39;s a visual thing. Or music. Inspiration is all around us. Last fall I took a "inspiration class". We did a behind the scenes tour with 7 textiles, a tour of textiles from the Roman Empire >
and a tour featuring textile with tapestry weave. The idea was that we would make three pieces, one piece inspired by each tour.
After the first tour, I had an idea to make something inspired by this amazing hat which I cannot share a pic of and the comment of a friend in the group (that looks like your "space stuff") :D :D It made me think about the star caves in Canyon de Chelly.
Alas, I never got that piece to gel, although I haven& #39;t entirely abandoned the idea yet. Just set it aside for now.
In the second tour, I was really inspired by a textile that had two columns on it. One was black and the other was white with rainbow colors. I don& #39;t know why the pics are sideways and I& #39;m sorry I didn& #39;t take a pic with both columns at the same time.
Oops, they are the correct orientation. Shew. Well, anyway, it got me thinking about yin yangs and I made my first yin yang. I hope it& #39;s just the first in a series of yin yangs.
In the third tour we saw a jacket of the Druze people. At first I thought I& #39;d make a jacket. Then a vest. I bought druzy crystal beads because I thought a Druze inspired jacket with druzy quarts would be too fun.
Hah, the joke was on me. I then realized I didn& #39;t have time to make any clothing and I scrambled to figure out how to make some jewelry. This thread follows some of that journey. https://twitter.com/artcollisions/status/1216793206534348801">https://twitter.com/artcollis...
