For law school students writing exams and resuming in January, please read. The reason for this thread is totally not to guide you in your law school sojourn but rather to speak to your state of mind after law school. I had to share this as a result of what a friend has turned
himself into after the release of the bar finals result. I know, for sure, that more students would have resolved by now, to finishing
with a first class from the law school. Wonderful mindset! I know, for sure, that more students, would have read stories of different first class students. That is fantastic, also. However, I plead with you to never allow the outcome of your law school result change
how you feel about yourself. This is because, irrespective of your preparation, things MAY not go the way you want. Please, don’t see me as a PESSIMIST. It is only what it is. Some have unconsciously tied their success to making a first class from the law school so much so that
when they don’t make a first class, they, immediately, see themselves as failures for a long time, if not for life. The only thing you can do is to try your best. You must leave the law school knowing that if you were asked to go back again, there would be nothing you
would do better. So, be calm. Don’t be tensed. Be very calm, please. Don’t be intimidated by anyone. I have a friend who knew everything in the law school. By everything, I mean there was nothing that you would know that he did not know. He understood every concept. Too good!
I had to stop talking to him at one point because he was disturbing my peace. Imagine, somebody correcting your own question and thereafter telling you the answer to the corrected question. He was that excellent. Guyssssss! This person did not make a first class. You see!
I also have a friend who, when asked a question and he didn’t know it, would tell you- “Baba, that one no fit comot, no dull am”. He made this statement several times and I was wowed at his confidence. Guyyyyyyys! He made a first class and won awards. Don’t resume the law school
with the mindset that if you don’t make a first class, you will die. Sincerely, if you have lived very well, it will only take one week for people to mourn you and life will continue. Simple! So, work very hard and pray. There are so many factors that determine the result. What you
pen down within 3 hours of each paper is the most important. So, no matter the level of your preparation, always have in mind that it is the 3 hours of an exam that matter most. You won’t mark your scripts. People, like you, will do. You will not upload your result by yourself.
People, like you, will do. You see why you can only work hard and pray and move on whatever the outcome of the result is. Also, when you succeed, you can decide the line of story to tell people on how the success came. I made a 2.1. If I made a first class and told you that,
I only slept for 1 hour everyday, you would believe me. If I told you that, I read in a bush where snakes lived, you would believe me. That is what success does. So, select what to read and practice. Try to cover all the modules. Have a working knowledge on all topics taught in
every module. Don’t leave any space blank. Pen something down. Please, in your MCQ, don’t correct questions for the examiner, except they do. They will intentionally include an option most students will think it is an error and may want to correct it.
IT IS A LIE! It is not an error. They know the way most students think, so they include option they want you to pick which is wrong. I remember picking an option in ethics that had:” Rules of Professional Coduct 2017”. It ought to be 2007 and my eyes in the exam
really saw 2007 not knowing it was 2017. You see battle of psychology and vision. After law school, life must move on and you must ensure it moves on well for you. Very key.

Best wishes,
