Makeshift standing desk thread!
I& #39;ve been a standing desk worker for nearly 6 years. Took a month or two of no seated desk option to switch from "uncomfortable after 30min standing" to "can stand all day; uncomfortable after 30min sitting"

Simplest makeshift standing desk = a desk made for tall chairs/stools. Remove chair & you& #39;re good to go.
Left is Montreal airport, right is @Communitech Hub.
Many airports & university buildings have tall desks like this.

Here& #39;s one of my more creative makeshift standing desks, from one time I was visiting my mum.
I once made a desk (enough to reproduce my double-monitor & split keyboard config shown in first tweet) entirely out of a wide variety of cardboard boxes stacked on top of a table, but I don& #39;t seem to have a photo of it.
@jamesnorris_ do you have pics from Focus Week Feb 2016?

Here& #39;s a more boring cardboard box, from a time when I was invited by the now-owner of my childhood home (in a very small town) to spend an evening journalling there. Was a cool experience that I hope I get to do again.

I& #39;ve also sometimes used a set of shelves/cupboards as standing desks but apparently I don& #39;t currently have any photos of those!
Which is unfortunate because they& #39;d be pretty funny to see. Now that this thread exists I& #39;ll be much more likely to document them probably.

Ah here& #39;s another! Feb 2016, right after the aforementioned Focus Week I set this up in the room of my then-girlfriend, who I was staying with that month.
Note the extra piece of cardboard to keep the keyboard from slipping off (near side)
I miss that water bottle. Left on

Here& #39;s an excellent set-up using the TV at a motel in Northern Ontario while on roadtrip across Canada with @SarahAMcManus

This shelf is probably the first serious time I& #39;ve had monitors side-by-side in about 7 years.
Kinda novel but I way prefer the above-below set-up for a host of reasons. Though hard to tell at this phase if that& #39;s not just because I& #39;m used to it.

...literally hours after arriving at this new airbnb, I& #39;ve got this new set-up.
This is when I made this

from a retreat with @LordChisholm & @SarahAMcManus in January
(also we& #39;ve taken to calling it a mechsuit, because I feel kinda naked using my laptop without it)

And then while staying at my cousin& #39;s place on Vancouver Island this winter, @SarahAMcManus and I had only one room to take calls so I made a portable keyboard+mouse tray that I could move to a makeshift desk in the hallway in like 2mins
