i know this seems PETTY but it drives me bonkers: lot of my friends are supportive and help out and i'm so thankful, but there's a few friends who are like "man your stuff is so good, why aren't you more popular" and they NEVER post about it or retweet it or share it with anyone
oh I DUNNO why ARENT i more popular!! because i dont have an advertising budget or a company sponsoring me so they only way anyone finds out about me is if you tell em!!! i only have 1000 followers!!! i'm a secret!! HELP
i don't know how else to say "i'm an independent creator and i will Not Create Anymore Due To Money Issues if you Don't Tell People about my Work, this is actually Very Important to Me, I lose Sleep About It, If You Think My Work Is Any Good You Have To Share It Or I Will Die"
alright sorry for complaining. i dont want to guilt anyone. this is just actually important to me and i'm not terribly good at talking about things like that. i know i seem super confident but that's because secretly i feel like failure is 2 seconds away and i cant show weakness
an addendum to this is that if you've ever had a complaint about the Disney monoculture or similar, the call to action is to support independent creators in a way that competes with Disney. with your money, with your timeline, with your words. don't complain if you won't help
There's just a really important realization you gotta make as a content consumer that indie content 1. is not any less real or less legit than mainstream content creators, and 2. will not survive unless you - I mean you, reading this - decide that they can.
