The constant online abuse I’m receiving since W*ngs posted his defaming article of me & others has been unreal. For the record, I believe the #1 spot on NE list will rightly be reserved for a BAME person. It hasn’t been reserved for me in some grand conspiracy.
I plucked the courage to talk about my condition in a tweet because I thought being a political candidate with Tourette’s syndrome could empower others who grew up like me with neurological conditions. I don’t know any politicians who openly have Tourette’s, ADHD or OCD.
And for me, having a public figure when I was a child being visible and open about it could have done wonders to fight stigma and raise awareness about it. Instead - I’m being accused of inventing my diagnoses ‘to gerrymander’ the NE list.
I’ll continue to make positive & informative posts and engage with people who ask questions in good faith.
