Is there cause for optimism? Yes, I think so. We get caught up in doom scrolling and seeing prior signals turn out to be temporary. But let's look at where we are from the cup half full angle. (Just don't go overboard lol).1. We have started restrictions at a lower level.
We are getting our act together on vaccines. 
Several provinces have taken more serious steps to limit spread and are starting to see results. Some could do more but this is a half

School's are out in many areas! Though controversial by some, that can mean fewer infections and a kickstart to drive cases down.
Testing is reaching new levels.
Though not airtight, our travel restrictions are improving.

There are reasons for optimism but we can't take anything for granted, it's up to every one of us to make a difference in the right direction. We can turn the corner if we have the collective will to do so. Let's make the optimistic become realistic and aim for better. /end
