I've been thinking about how more GMs this year made me feel welcome at the table as a non-binary person.
It's really helped me become more confident and feel more comfortable in my skin!
I want to share some of these moments with y'all, big and small.
So, thread!

So, thread!
I want to start with a disclaimer: this is not meant to be an exhaustive list, and this is what helped ME feel comfortable and safe
I don't speak for everyone who's non-binary. I hope this helps folks be more welcoming and inclusive!

Players always introduce themselves by name and pronouns. This makes it feel less weird when I do it!
Players clearly display their name and pronouns so I can always refer to them, and they can always see mine(/3)
I used to say "Hi my name is Jammi, my pronouns are they/them please"
A good friend told me in private that he felt bad whenever I said "please", he said I shouldn't have to ever ASK to be called by my correct pronouns.
I really almost broke down crying, I was so moved.

when someone misgendered me and just quickly corrected themselves WITHOUT making a big deal out of it or profusely apologizing.I WILL apologize if someone makes a big deal out of it *even though I shouldn't*, I am conditioned to minimize myself and feel guilty.
(/5)
When a GM includes an NPC section and clearly provides a space to place pronouns
When a GM introduces NPCs who use they/them pronouns, and they are not coded "androgynous" or "transgressive"I remember when I met my first non-binary NPC, I was sooooo happy!!!
(/6)
When I introduce an NPC, a GM asks "what are their pronouns?", That's PERFECT
When I'm asked "are they a man or a woman?" I kid you not, I feel like I've been stabbed in the chest.
Asking for pronouns is much better and removes the binary coding!
(/7)
A GM who does not question if I use the titles "Queen", "Bride", "Princess" for my NPC with he/him pronouns.Sure, I personally appreciate something like "Royal" or "Promised" instead, but I see myself as a Non-Binary Sword Queen for a reason!
(/8)
A GM who clarifies when I offer he/they or she/they pronouns:"Should I use he/they interchangeably, or is there a preference?"
A GM who gently corrects other players when they misgender me, they know I am just being polite and tired when I don't say anything(/9)
These are just some of the things my amazing GMs (and fellow players!) have done for me this year
What have your GMs done to help you feel more welcome at the table?
