Unless driving is an integral part of a job, prospective employees should not be required to have a driver's license in order to even get an interview, let alone a job. This is one example of how ableism and classism has kept me out of the workforce for years. Please ❤/RT.
I have been job searching for YEARS and it's been a requirement on almost every application. Some won't even let me continue an online application if I check no on "Do you have a valid drivers license?"
On the very few interviews that I have landed, one of their first questions is, "Do you have a valid form of transportation?" When I reply, "Yes; I take the bus, and on nice days I can walk or bike, since this is a short distance." I'm almost immediately ushered away.
Any time that I try to speak out about this, I'm met with: "Why don't you just get over your issues and learn how to drive?"

*Severe panic attacks
*No depth perception
*When everything is moving around me I feel nauseated and I start swerving
*Tried once and almost crashed
Ideally, I would get a job writing for a disability/autism advocacy network remotely, but the workforce needs to be available to everybody, so accomodations, including not making a driver's license a requirement, are a must!
