It’s hard to fix a problem that you can’t quantify. That’s why OKC conducts its annual Point in Time Count of the homeless population. This year, 1,573 people were counted on January 23, 2020. 1/4
Why one day? This statistic represents the number of individuals experiencing homelessness on any given night in our community. 🌘

Throughout an entire year, there's more than 10,000 individuals receiving homeless services in OKC. 2/4
The annual Point in Time Count also allows us to compare numbers year-over-year. It’s worth noting 300 more people were counted this year compared to 2019, but that doesn’t necessarily mean homelessness increased by 24%. 3/4
Outreach workers have gotten better at pinpointing the locations of people and camps and established rapport with people making counting easier.

In the July issue of the Curbside Chronicle, we dive deeper into the annual PIT Count. Pick up a copy from a vendor in green! 4/4 💚
