2/ older article to highlight a point, bear with me, and read it if you haven’t already. anyway. the thing is, whether or not they’re smart enough to figure out how to use message boards or "follow crumbs", whether or not they even realize it —
3/ the vast majority of potus supporters, really the entire right, is now echoing q. it has trickled out to them, because it has been parroted by potus & hoovered up to be regurgitated by fox pundits & most other right media outlets.
4/ it’s trickled out to them & they don’t have to know there’s a name for it, a comprehensive thing. really, that fact only ensures that when & if they do become officially aquatinted with it, it will already feel true to them. they won’t even question it.
5/ it will, by then, just be the most glorious confirmation bias they’ve ever tasted. truly, that’s what it is even for the true believers—they were already primed for this kind of thinking by their churches, decades of "deep state" tirades, tea party, birthers etc.
6/ that’s what is scary about it. not just the number of people who will admit to believing it, who devote hours a day to "research" and buy merch—it’s the people who already believe it without knowing they believe it. who picked it up somewhere else.
7/ it’s the people who were already indoctrinated past the point of no return into a cult they can’t even see, don’t even have to see, or name, to be a part of. it has effectively united the right. every ugly backward element of american culture. whether. they. know. it. or. not.
8/ do not underestimate this. do not underestimate them. these are the people who, regardless of whether they prefer crusade or 1776 aesthetics to accompany their delusions, or some unholy alliance of both, are going to start killing people in november if not before.
9/ this is what we’re up against. this is what fascism looks like in the united states. & biden or no, it’s naive as fuck to think these people are going to go away on their own.
