Based on my personal experiences talking to family & the fact that numerous folks have reached out, here’s a thread I put together with advice for non-Black POC if you’re having convos with loved ones about #BlackLivesMatter

Ask questions about what they know & where they get info (some may watch Fox or read NRA magazine, this is helpful context for your approach)Meet folks where they are & be mindful of your language (don’t use acronyms or jargon)
Try connecting to an experience or relationship they may have (how would you feel if your child or parent was unarmed & killed by cops?)Our goal shouldn’t always be to “win them over” (planting a seed for further reflection is progress & frankly, you won’t win over everyone)
Remind them there are many ways to take action & show support, even if you may disagree with others tacticsBe mindful we are still in a pandemic despite the lack of news coverage on disproportionate impact on Black folks—for many, the risk is not only worth it but necessary
Folks are still human & process things differently (you may need to have multiple convos but they are likely talking with you in the first place because of your relationship with them)It’s also to make boundaries & talk when you have the space & capacity to do so (take time)
